Cautious but Not Crazy About Chemicals

Over the years I've heard tell all the dangers of chemicals and more specifically parabens in cosmetic products. I take a moderate approach in almost all things but really in this case isn't it just better to avoid using something every day that's supposed to be making us healthier if in fact it could be potentially harmful? And if we really want to reduce our dependance on oil (and our need to get that oil from politically chaotic foreign nations) the least we can do is to stop putting it in all our products! In fact in much of Europe they don't even have parabens in any of their cosmetic products.

I do use parabens both personally and in my practice but only when a product is really necessary because of its effectiveness. I would be really happy though if all those lovely product lines stopped using parabens since they're really just cheap synthetic ingredients that coat the skin and have little to no effectiveness. This article takes a very sane and measured approach to the issue but in the meantime I'll just make my vote count by trying to buy as much of the natural stuff as possible. I think how we spend our money is the most powerful vote we make in this country. So make your dollars say something! And if you'd like to check out some of my own line of yummy stuff that has no parabens, surfactants, or artificial fragrances, take a peek at www.gloskinspa@flyingcart.com
